Falls Prevention Awareness Week of Action, Falls Risk Screening
New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department in partnership with the National Council on Aging is pleased to announce the 2024 Falls Prevention Awareness Week of Action, focused on reducing the number of falls among our community in the Albuquerque area.
One of the best ways to stay strong as we get older is to understand our risk for a fall. And the good news is that many falls are preventable!
That’s why we’re asking older adults to take the Falls Free CheckUp. Answer 13 simple questions that can help you determine your risk of falling and get tips on what you can do to stay healthy. It only takes a few minutes to complete.
In addition to the Falls Free CheckUp, we are excited to invite you to the Falls Risk Screening on Friday 9/20 in Albuquerque. We will have booths where you can get strength and balance tests, a medication review, home safety information, and more.
North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center
7521 Carmel Ave NE
Albuquerque, NM 87113
Friday, September 20 | 8:30 am - 12 pm

If you have any questions on the screening please contact the New Mexico Falls Coalition at nmstopfalls@gmail.com. Indigenous elders can contact the Tribal Injury Prevention Coalition at tipp@aaihb.org.
We hope to see you and your families at the events and, if you can’t make it, you can still join the Week of Action by filling out the Falls Free CheckUp. If you want to spread the word to anyone you know, feel free to forward this email or share the Falls Free CheckUp link: bit.ly/abq-checkup.
See you soon!
