Senior Services Expansion Initiative for Transportation, Case Management, Legal Services and Activities
The purpose of the Senior Services Expansion Initiative is to expand and implement transportation, case management and legal services and activity and to increase the number of customers served for Fiscal Year 2025 (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025). This initiative will prioritize adding and expanding services in the most rural, underserved parts of New Mexico.
Applicants may propose adding the service directly or subcontracting the service to a qualified provider. Applicants must be in full compliance with reporting and current contract deliverables.
Applicants may choose to apply for one or all Senior Services Expansion Initiative services. To be eligible, existing providers must be currently contracted with funds provided by ALTSD.
The Aging Services Expansion Initiative awards will be based on application responses, including a detailed budget and required attachments.
Transportation and Case Management and Legal Services
Up to $75,000 will be available for Fiscal Year 2025 (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) to Area Agencies on Aging existing providers to increase Transportation and Case Management and Legal Services.
Transportation
The goal of the Transportation Expansion Initiative is to drive a net increase in the number of customers served and number of round-trip transports provided in a geographic region.
Applicants may propose adding new transportation services in an area that currently has no transportation services or expanding transportation services in an area with inadequate capacity to meet the demand.
The expansion initiative funding is intended to assist in offsetting costs related to applicable staffing, related costs, and the costs of service provision until regular billing and reimbursement cycle is established. The award does not support the purchase of the vehicle.
Case Management
The goal of the Case Management Expansion Initiative is to increase Case Management services offered by Area Agency on Aging providers. Applicants may propose adding or expanding case management services in an area.
The expansion initiative funding is intended to drive an increase in the number of customers served and units of case management services provided in a geographical area. The applicant may provide adding case management services in an area with no services available or expanding case management in an area with inadequate capacity to meet the demand.
Legal Services
The goal of the Legal Services Expansion Initiative is to increase legal services offered by Area Agency on Aging providers. Applicants may propose adding or expanding case management services in an area.
The expansion initiative funding is intended to drive an increase in the number[JJA2] of customers served and units of legal services provided in a geographical area. The applicant may provide adding legal services in an area with no services available or expanding legal services in an area with inadequate capacity to meet the demand.
Activities
Up to $20,000 will be available for Fiscal Year 2025 (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) to Area Agencies on Aging existing providers to increase Community Activities.
Activities
The goal of the Activities Expansion Initiative is to increase community activities offered by Area Agency on Aging providers and to drive an increase in the number of customers served and units of community activities in a geographical area.
Applicants may propose adding or expanding activity services in an area.
Eligible Senior Services Expansion Initiative Applicants
The Aging and Long-Term Services Department will accept applications from:
- City of Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Area Agency on Aging
- Non-Metro Area Agency on Aging
- Navajo Nation Division of Aging and Long-Term Support
- Indian Area Agency on Aging Providers

Senior Services Expansion Grant Application for FY25
The Senior Services Expansion Initiative Application for FY25 will open on Monday, April 1st and close on Friday, May 31 st at 5:00 PM. Please complete the application form and submit with a detailed budget and other (required) attachments to AGINGSERVICESGRANT@state.nm.us.
